ENROLMENT

To enrol your child in kinder throughout the Whitehorse area, you are directed to make all enquiries to the Whitehorse Pre School Association (WPSA). The WPSA maintains a central application scheme for all three and four year old pre school programs in the City of Whitehorse. You are advised to enrol your child from their second birthday, nominating the kinder of your choice followed by a second preference for both three and four year old kinder programs. Application forms that are received before the child turns two will not be processed until that child turns 2.

HOW TO ENROL
Application forms may be obtained from the following places:
1) From the WPSA website at www.wpsa.com.au and follow the prompts through the 'enrolment section'.
2) All Whitehorse kindergartens.(Download the standard application form attached)
3) City of Whitehorse council offices.
4) Maternal and child health centres.
5) Whitehorse Information Centre located at Forest Hill Shopping centre.
One application is required per child.
All applications will be processed via WPSA and a $20 non refundable fee is payable.

NOTIFICATION OF ENROLMENT ACCEPTANCE
· Throughout the City of Whitehorse all enrolment applications close on the 30th of June each year.
· Any applications received after this date will be processed as a late application. Barriburn Preschool will receive a list of confirmed first preference applications from WPSA during July of that year.
· In the year prior to your child commencing kinder you will be notified in writing by July/August in regards to your child's position on Barriburn Preschools registration lists.
· If your child is offered a place at Barriburn Preschool then the offer must be accepted by the specified date with a non refundable deposit.
· If for any reason you are unable to be contacted during this time you must advise the Enrolment Officer at Barriburn Preschool.
· WPSA must receive all changes or cancellations to applications before 30th June the year prior to your child commencing kinder.
· No guarantee is given to families when applying for kindergarten placements.

SELECTION CRITERIA
A selection criteria has been established for the Enrolment Officer and other Committee of Management members to adhere to when allocating places at Barriburn Preschool. Throughout the allocation process strict confidentiality is maintained and WPSA are notified when placements are accepted.

FEES
Barriburn Preschool is not a free service and fees are charged at the start of each term. Fees are necessary to maintain and meet the preschool's operational costs.

All places at Barriburn Preschool are fee based places.

The Government provides a fee subsidy only for four year old preschool programs. Fees are still required for four year old preschool places due to a shortfall between the level of government funding and the costs of operating a preschool. If a parent/guardian or child holds a current Commonwealth Health Care Card / Pensioner Concession Card/Visa 866/785 they are eligible for a reduction in term fees for four year old preschool places only.

There is no such government subsidy for children participating in the three year old program and full term fees are required.

Barriburn Preschool is currently a Registered Child Care Provider with the Australian Government Family Assistance Office. Providing you and, where applicable, your partner, meet the work, training or study test eligibility requirements, you can apply at the end of term two and four to receive a lump sum Child Care Benefit payment.
